Back again. Quite a good weekend. Organised going to see Kill Bill tonight - which I'm looking forward to. We don't get out much together, wife and I, since the little bugg...er, boy arrived. Last time we went out it was to see Pirates of the Caribbean, which was a waste of time and made me think that generally I am my own best judge of good films, not workmates, relatives or tabloid newspapers. I just need to trust myself a bit more. Really looking forward to watching Bladerunner with Seal on DVD soon as well. She hasn't seen it, so it's always a treat to relive a film through someone else and share their enjoyment.
Worming my way through the books at the moment as well. Have put Aldous Huxley's Doors of Perception on hold for a few days until I can finish The Life of Pi. Read First Flight in 3 days, the story of WWIIs youngest Spitfire pilot, Geoffrey Wellum, which was excellent, but he could have shot down a few more 109s for my liking. What was he playing at?
Coincidence? I watched the last episode of Peep Show (Channel 4 comedy) and wished I'd caught them all. One of the characters lost his uncle and turned to religion. His house mate returned to see him sitting with the Koran, Bible and whatever the Hindu holy book is in deep thought. The Life of Pi's main character, Piscine, also embraces these three religions and get's himself in hot water with his father and the holy men. It was odd that these events coincided by about 6 hours. Odd, but it didn't make me believe in God mind.
Had an excellent walk in Bix woods near Henley with Toby and Seal on Saturday. He was a right little adventurer. He just kept walking off through the leaves and up steep embankments like an unstoppable robot. Which reminds me. When he's a bit older I'm going to go up to the woods and bury an old robot there for him to "discover" next time we go. I would have been so excited as a kid to find a lost and buried robot in the woods to be able to keep - I hope he is too.
